I am a life coach and I want to confirm that every one of us has a tale we tell ourselves, a story about who we are, what we are, and why we do what we do. This is particularly true of women in the 21st century. Some of you speak your own truths. Some of you boldly step outside the box you were molded in and dismiss anything and everything that does not resonate with your decided purpose. You’re the unconventional ones, the original, somewhat eccentric, but loveable people that make the world an interesting place to live. Others tell their stories as seen through everyone else’s eyes, almost like fiction. You judge your thoughts and feelings based on the “opinion prism” through which other people view you. You can get so caught up in being what other people want you to be that you forget who you are, and what you were meant to be.
Who you are shouldn’t be a mystery. What you are meant to be is simple—your own beautiful, unapologetically amazing self. If you ever feel lost and unsure about who that person is, remind yourself using these five things.
Breathe When You Think You Can’t.
Unfortunately, things can’t always be hunky dory. There are going to be days when you curse the very day you decided to become an adult. It’s okay. That’s normal. These are the days that challenge us all. Those days provide an opportunity to become a better form of ourselves. When days slam down on you, just remember to breathe. That’s all you need to remember. Trials and tribulations are part of life and you’re much stronger than you think. You can make it through anything, one breath at a time.
You can get so caught up in
being what other people want
you to be that you forget
who you are, and what you were meant to be.
Smile Even When You Don’t Want To.
How many of you know that smiling actually makes you feel happy? It’s true. Try it. Right now, wherever you are, just put a big smile on your face. I’m not talking about a weak little half upturn of the lips here. I’m talking a full on, mouth opening, and big toothy grin. The kind that makes your eyes sparkle and dance, just like when you’re thrilled with your life. See? Good. Hold on to it for five seconds. How do you feel? Better, huh… you’re welcome! Even when you’re having a bad day, you can always find something to smile about. And remember, just the simple act of smiling makes you feel better in spite of yourself.
You’re More Beautiful Than You Think You Are.
You are, and it doesn’t matter if you’re a size zero or 24, you’re still beautiful. Don’t let anyone ever tell you some other crap, particularly not yourself. Look at your reflection in the mirror. Instead of focusing on all the normal criticisms you like to dish out, revel in your very exquisiteness. You’re a goddess, an enchantress, alluring, fabulous, and fierce. Remember this: There’s no one else on the planet with your curves, your skin, and your eyes. Even if it’s one of those bad hair days, find something you like about your looks and focus on it. Then find something else, and then something else. Pretty soon you’ll be winking and blowing kisses at the foxy lady in the mirror. I know, you say that’s all bull…but you would be wrong. Do that and see how you energy and image improve.
You’re Stronger Than You Think You Are.
It’s true. There has most certainly been some time in your life when you really hit a low point, maybe you even hit rock bottom. Perhaps it was over a broken relationship, or maybe some financial disaster. Did you curl into a little ball and hide in your blanket castle for the rest of your life? No, you DID NOT! You got back up. Picked up your toys, and moved on to the next phase of your life. You figured it out. You did it yourself. Why? Because you’ve got this tough place inside of you and that’s where you find that special person, the one who taps you on the shoulder and reminds you not to go peacefully into the night…the one who knows you can conquer the obstacle before you. This whole life thing? You really can do it.
You’re different shades of a
spectacular gift to the world,
wrapped up in a quirky, nerdy, sexy bow.
Love Yourself: There’s Nothing Wrong With You
There isn’t. Just because that damn fool boyfriend that did you wrong just didn’t see it; to hell with him! Forget them. Those people who are always judging you and trying to make you feel less than you know you are? Friggin’ forget them. Loose their number, kick them to the curb! You’re amazing and you should focus on loving every part and piece of yourself. You aren’t just the things that other people see. You’re different shades of a spectacular gift to the world, wrapped up in a quirky, nerdy, sexy bow. Love every color of yourself, all of the imperfections and idiosyncrasies that make you who you are. You’re awesome and you deserve to be loved. If you keep this up, someone worthy of you will soon love you.
So give that to yourself!
